I'm Nicole Celic!
I'm just some librarian from the Bronx. I have an MS in Library Science from Clarion University, and an MA in Game Design from Lindenwood University. I make video games as an artist, as librarianship is what I do as my main job, and the work I do here is no reflection of whoever happens to be my employer. Your support for my art means a lot, although ideally I just wish libraries would be fully invested in and seen for what they really are in society. Librarianship is a common good, a societal need, and it's a shame there's always budget cuts to deal with, and now there are book challenges! I want more for our field, but alas all I can do is make art via making video games, as I slowly get better over time. Eventually I would like to have a team to help me do this, but for now I'm not at a point where I can compensate for your help. The goal is to eventually get to that point though.
I met Mick Foley! ^_^

The Marketing of Academic, National and Public Libraries Worldwide
I was one out of 48 highly seasoned marketing and community engagement librarians around the world, namely in Africa, Australia, Canada, Croatia, Germany, Hong Kong, Latvia and Qatar interviewed! Via a series of in-depth and semi-structured interviews, this book provides insights into successful marketing strategies librarians can use to encourage donors and patrons to understand that their libraries are a great choice for fulfilling information needs, recreational interests, intellectual pursuits, and more. |

Artist Statement: King Pangnapa is an art piece that happens to be a video game based on my experiences and feelings as a librarian. It is intended to raise awareness about some of the issues that face our field. This is meant to be an artistic commentary on what it means to be a librarian since, as an artist, I feel powerless about this rise of book challenges and the budget cuts except to make video games about it.
Legal stuff purposes! This idea is copyrighted, so I have to follow through and publish it. Does not reflect my employer at the time whatsoever seriously! I have no idea what to do but to make art. Nobody is reflected on purpose, pure coincidence! I can't stress this enough. This is a video game, this is fiction.
Outside King Pangnapa...
Stuff I've done not related to the penguin that showcases my other skillsets.

This is Experiment 382, a game I helped created in Team Studio as an MA student at Lindenwood. I created and animated the player character, and other signage you see in the game. We somehow won an award for this.

This is a work of fiction, no resemblances to anyone in real-life is intentional, and is pure coincidence. This is a work of art to raise awareness about the issues in librarianship and is no reflection of any library employer or organization. Graphics on the site are produced using Canva.
